Selected Portos are chosen for ageing in wooden casks, which concentrates their fruit and flavour. The colour matures from deep ruby through to amber, producing a rare and delicious Tawny Porto. Maturity and fruit are harmoniously balanced, creating the perfect conclusion to a meal and the inspiration for good conversation. A rich yet elegant combination of flavours - dried apricots, honey, nuts, spices, vanilla - creates an endlessly complex wine that unfolds smoothly and develops in the mouth. 20 Year Old Tawny is delightful served slightly chilled as a stylish accompaniment to a rich appetiser - such as foie-gras, a strong cheese quiche, salty vol-au-vents or a seafood gratin. Perfect with selected desserts such as a creme brulee or a tarte tatin, dried fruits or simply a fresh peach. An elegant aperitif when served chilled. Does not require decanting, but benefits from aeration. Serve slightly chilled in a large glass.
This is always outstanding. Attractive aromas of egg yolks, caramel and light honey. Full-bodied, with a rich palate of honey and butterscotch, with just a hint of nuts. Goes on and on. Drink now. 5,000 cases made.
The NV 20 Years Old Tawny Porto is a typical Douro blend sourced from juice ranging from 15 to 30 years old. It was bottled in September 2018 with a Vinolok cork and 115 grams per liter of residual sugar. This adds a little power and notable complexity to the 10 Year this issue, but it seems a little understated in concentration and surprisingly mature. The brandy is a bit prominent, but that improves. Its bright and gentle demeanor won't leave you with a ""wow"" impression, but it sneaks up on you and it's easy to like eventually. It showed better a few days later, at which point it was notably improved. Maybe some bottle shock plus travel shock before it was tasted rendered it a little closed at first. It finishes with classic flavors laced with caramel nuances. There were 60,000 bottles produced.
One of the stars of the Sandeman stable, this is a nicely balanced tawny that s a bit drier-tasting than most, with a touch of tannic structure to help support the flavors of caramelized nuts, surprisingly vigorous red fruits and maple syrup. Peppery on the finish.
