This wine needs decanting. Allow 30 Minutes after decanting to bring out the wonderful balance of this Gem!
Dark ruby color, ripe black currants, violets and vanilla, spicy, oaky scents. The wine has great finesse and a particular softness imparted by the Merlot. It tends to be firm yet delicate and supple, great elegance develops with age.
94 points Wine Spectator
Beautiful deep-garnet color, with classic Médoc flavors of plum, spice, earth and mineral.
This wine is distinctively herbaceous and cedary, with surprisingly high acidity, and aggressive tannin in the finish. Its medium garnet color and smoky, roasted herb-scented nose are followed by a wine with good fruit on the attack, but an angular, sharp finish. The wine appears to be closer to full maturity than its younger sibling, the 1979. Anticipated maturity: Now-2010. Last tasted 10/97
